On Friday the 2nd of September at Forrest Place, in the Perth CBD, you will find Farmer On Your Plate.

Farming Champions – supported by the City of Perth, Buy West Eat Best, Countrywide Insurance, Loose Leaf Lettuce Co, and the Royal Agricultural Society of WA – is hosting Farmer on Your Plate in Perth city for the public to experience for the 10th year.

The event celebrates the high-quality produce grown here in Western Australia by connecting consumers to the farmers who produce the ‘food on their plates’. The event is expected to attract thousands of people to Forrest Place on Friday, 2nd September from 9am to 3pm.

This year sees the implementation of a new theme: Past, Present and Future, where we will showcase producers from their regions. The Farming Champions information tent will be offering Buy West Eat Best show bags to collect information from the stallholders as you journey around the event space. Go in the draw to win the chance of a one night stay for 4 adults at Marys Farm Cottages in Kukerin at only $5 a ticket! Don’t forget your gold coins for tastings and an extra chance to win a hamper of selected produce!

The event will feature a variety of free attractions including Nigel’s Incredible Creatures of York, musicians Kim Wainwright and Nick & Lucy who will perform throughout the day, and the Moorditj Mob dance group from Wesley College who will provide dance stories and art to reflect their connection.

Well-known Perth chefs will be showcasing the top-quality Western Australian produce available on our door step, with cooking demonstrations from 11am.

Take the opportunity to meet the farmers who produce the food on your plate or provide the services for our rural communities: Nicola and Shane Kelliher (Wandering Clover Fed Beef), ex-Chair, Mary Nenke (Cambinata Yabbies), Nannup Lavender Farm, Tucker Bush (workshop deliver at 10.30am), Australian Bee Company, Bee Industry Council of WA, Antons Bratwurst, Axistech, Bluey Zarzovs Hotsauce, Muresk institute, Vasse valley hemp farm, Country Women’s Association of WA, and the York CRC to name a few.

Farming Champions want to engage with the community about the importance of family farms and the high quality of Australian food. The event aims to celebrate the importance of agriculture in Western Australia and discuss the importance of food security. Farming Champions is an organization that wants to bring agricultural issues to the attention of everyday Western Australians.

Farmer On Your Plate is more than a farmers’ market. This event is a chance to learn where your food comes from as we showcase farm fresh produce accessible from our WA family farmers. Tasting and sales are available throughout the day, but more so we encourage you to talk with our stallholders about their life on the land and maybe learn something new about Australian agriculture. Come along to our event to connect with the farming families that produce your food.
