We are thrilled to announce that the much-loved Farmer On Your Plate event is back, and it’s bigger and better than ever! Now in its eleventh year, Farmer On Your Plate is an annual celebration of Western Australian farming families and the incredible produce they provide. The event offers a unique opportunity for people to connect with their food and the farmers who grow it, learn about sustainable agriculture practices, and experience the joys of farm life right in the heart of the city.

This year, we are excited to announce that Farmer On Your Plate is moving to a new location, the beautiful Esplanade Reserve in Fremantle. This move marks a new chapter in the event’s history and offers us the chance to reach a new audience, educate consumers about where their food comes from, and support the continued production of high-quality West Australian food.

For those who are new to the event, Farmer On Your Plate is more than just a farmers’ market. It’s a farming festival that celebrates all things related to Western Australian farming families. Visitors can expect to find farm-fresh produce, opportunities to meet and talk with farming families, cooking demonstrations and sampling, farm animals, entertainment, and more!

The event is run by the Not-For-Profit group Farming Champions, a group of volunteers from WA farming families. The event aims to build awareness about the state of WA farming and create a connection between the farm and the city. We believe that by bringing the country to the city, we can help people recognise the importance of supporting local and championing farming in Australia.

The 11th annual Farmer On Your Plate event will take place on Saturday the 4th of November 2023, and will be free to attend. The event will be open from 10:00am to 4:00pm, giving visitors plenty of time to explore everything on offer.

One of the highlights of the event is the opportunity to “Walk, Talk and Taste our WA Regions,” where food is prepared on-site by some of Perth’s top chefs. This allows the public to interact with producers throughout the day and get a firsthand look at the farming practices that go into creating the delicious produce they love.

Farming Champions, the not-for-profit group behind Farmer On Your Plate, is seeking volunteers to join their committee and help plan the 2023 event. Volunteers can contribute their skills and experience in event management, marketing, sponsorship, or community engagement to make the event even better. There are also opportunities to help on event day, such as assisting with set-up, managing stalls, and welcoming visitors.
